Mean Girls‘ star Daniel Franzese Comes OUT

Despite Fetch NOT being a word Daniel Franzese of the classic movie Mean Girls, he has decided to pen a letter and come out of the closet! #Shah

Actor Daniel Franzese, who starred alongside Lindsay Lohan and Lizzy Caplan in 2004’s “Mean Girls,” has come out as gay through a letter he penned to his gay character  Damian. Which reminds us of Mean Girls since Daniel “hate(s) it when people say I’m ‘too gay to function.'”

Anyways, CelebNMusic247.com has learned that the 35-year-old actor penned a open-letter to his character Damian for Indie Wire explaining his road to stepping out of the closet under his real

Umm, no offense, but we all knew he was gay in Mean Girls, it was obvious that wasn’t an act. Oh well, now that the weight has been lifted off his shoulders Daniel Franzese can smile brighter, sing louder, dance more and scream at the top of his lungs, “I’M GAY!”

Ok maybe NOT, but we do know that Daniel can explain, he writes:

“I wished I’d had you as a role model when I was younger.”

“It might’ve been easier to be gay growing up.”

In regards to playing Damian in Mean Girls, he resisted playing Damian to avoid hitting a “gay glass ceiling” in the casting process.

Franzese continued:

“It wasn’t until years later that grown men started coming up to me on the street — some of them in tears — and thanking me for being a role model to them.”

“Telling me I gave them comfort not only being young and gay but also being a big dude. “

It took until 2014 for Franzese to come out, but he finally realized, “being a queer artist is one of my favorite things about myself.”

He added:

“I have always been different, and that’s rad.”

“My friends and family all knew the truth but now it’s time everyone does.”

He wrote, referring to a line from the movie.

“I hate it when people say I’m ‘too gay to function.'”

“I know you do, too. Those people are part of the problem. They should refrain from using that phrase. It really is ONLY okay when Janis says it.”

Franzese is celebrating publicly coming out by acting as the Celebrity Grand Marshall of the Portland Gay Pride Parade.

He closed his letter with an aside:
