Marvel Brings Back Howard the Duck!
One of the most anticipated cult-favorite comic book characters from the 1970s Howard the Duck has officially begun about the filthy-billed alien quacker.
Howard is getting a second chance in Hollywood thanks to Guardians of the Galaxy!
The career of Howard The Duck was almost buried after the dreadful 1986 big-screen flop. Thanks to his post-credit scene of this summer’s smash hit Guardians of the Galaxy, the world rejoiced, and was once again ready to re-embrace the anthropomorphic waterfowl once again.
Now Marvel has seized on Howard’s new-found popularity and announced that he will star in a brand new comic book written by Chip Zdarsky and drawn by Joe Quinones, which will launch on March 4. Howard is NOT only getting a reboot, he is getting a redesign which will be scene in fun, irreverent monthly installations, via Entertainment Weekly.
Zdarsky told EW:
“I love the contrast of Howard against both the normal world of us hairless apes and the weird worlds of Man-Things and Dr. Stranges and Spider-Mans.”
“Cause he doesn’t fit into either, really. I’m just going to continue exploring those contrasts, but my ultimate goal is to make it funny. Marvel has taken chances on funny books and injecting humor into superhero titles, so I want to make sure this is worth some chuckles here and there.”
Marvel has years of movies planned ahead of time, so we have to wonder: Will Howard the Duck be part of Phase 4?
