Malik Yoba speaks on being attracted to a trans woman for the first time unknowning that she was a trans-woman.
Charlamagne then asked Malik Yoba would this be considered as him “coming out?”
Yoba quickly replied:
It’s called stepping the f-ck up. There are a lot of Black men (and I ain’t gonna blow nobody up, but we all know who they are) that are in situations where they are friends, sometimes lovers and sometimes murderers of transwomen.
Then, Malik, who was fired from Empire for his gay remarks, listed other high profile men who have been caught by the paparazzi with transgender females. He named Mr. Cee, Eddie Murphy, and Teddy Pendergrass.
Yoba who was accompanied by Carmen Carrera, David Johns + Nala Simone went on to explain to The Breakfast Club the difference between fetish and attraction:
It is about intention and impact. Fetish comes when you only want to be with this person in the dark. You only want to be with that person sexually. Instead of wanting to get to know you.
Our community often times has this rhetoric that creates stigma for particularly men who can’t feel free enough to be their authentic selves and love inclusively. What happens is that stigma creates that fetishization.
David Johns corrected Malik who says he is Trans-attracted, is refered as invited in.
Johns goes on to say if you identify with your given sex means your sis. It is a very interesting conversation following Malik’s previous post on Insta.
Malik Yoba address the media that he is NOT gay, but people labeled him. He goes on to say he is NOT comfortable taking on the label queer. He is NOT attracted to men, he loves women.
