Lecrae The First Rapper To Win A Gospel Grammy Award.
Lecrae made history at the Grammy Awards with his latest album “Gravity” being the first Christian Hip Hop artist to grab a the Grammy Award for Best Gospel Album for his 2012 album.
The September 2012 release, which debuted in the Top 3 overall charts, beat contenders from Gospel artists such as Marvin Sapp and Anita Wilson.
Lecrae in a statement said:
“This past year has been an amazing experience and to see that my music is opening doors for the Hip Hop culture is incredible. All I want to do is make great honest music for all my fans to enjoy.”
“I want to build opportunities for other artists like myself as well as show that there is always a place for being unashamed and authentic.”
Released on Reach Records, Gravity features The Clipse‘s No Malice.
The album has sold over 73,000 units to date.
