Killer Mike had just won three Grammys at the Premiere Ceremony before he made his way to the Crypto.com Arena. The seasoned rapper was trying to go through the entrance when a security guard stopped him. In his lawsuit, Mike alleged the guard placed him under citizen’s arrest under false pretenses. After his was detained by security, the Grammy award-winner was arrested by police and taken to a nearby jail where he was held for several hours. The incident made him miss presenting an award during the live broadcast.
Mike was released from custody a few hours later and wasn’t charged by prosecutors. He released a statement a few days later and told people he would be cleared of wrongdoing. However, he still suffered from public embarrassment and professional harm. Mike plans to seek unspecified damages from both security companies. As of this report, neither company has commented on the situation.
