New York-based designer Shayne Oliver launched luxury streetwear brand Hood By Air in 2006 after having studied both at NYU and FIT. Initially a sweatshirt collection, Hood By Air continues to evolve in its social approach to fashion designs. Oliver’s inspirations range from art, design and dance to the reality of the urban life he leads. “I have always been interested in design, but Hood By Air is a statement more than anything,” Olivier says. “I want to push people. I want them to have new standards of what is classic and what is formal. If they don’t get it at first, I’m okay with it.” Hood By Air’s FW13 collection showed for the first time at MILK Studios during FW13 New York Fashion Week with rapper and Hood By Air enthusiast ASAP Rocky closing the show and a performance by artist BoyChild.
