(CelebNMusic247-News) Jon Chu Rumored To Replace J.J. Abrams for Star Trek
Call us skeptics, but the Star Trek franchise is golden with J.J. Abrams in the pilot seat, so why would they have G.I. Joe: Retaliation director Jon Chu replace him.
We understand that J.J. Abrams will be the man in the directors seat for Star Wars Episode VII, but Star Trek needs him as well.
Here’s the drop on the top candidates to replace J.J. Abrams directors seat for Star Trek 3.
Latino-Review claims Paramount has Chu “on top of the list” of candidates, which rumor has it has also included Justin Lin (Fast & Furious 6), Brad Bird (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol), and Joe Cornish (Attack the Block).
Chu is also attached to a Masters of the Universe reboot as well as G.I. Joe 3. Should this rumor pan out, it’s not clear how Chu possibly directing Trek 3 would affect Joe 3. Paramount reportedly wants the next Trek film out in time for the franchise’s 50th anniversary in 2016.
Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman have reportedly worked out a deal to return to script the next Trek film.
