Joan Rivers Schools CNN ‘s Fredricka Whitfield

There is one thing you NEVER do when interviewing an icon like Joan Rivers and that is you don’t come for her with a bunch of negative comments like CNN ‘s Fredricka Whitfield did.

Joan Rivers stopped by CNN to promote her new book “Diary of a Mad Diva,” but the iconic queen of comedy walked off the set in the middle of the interview after objecting to anchor Fredricka Whitfield’s “negative” line of questioning.

CelebNMusic247.com is SHOCKED to see how terrible of an interviewer Fredricka Whitfield actually was. We don’t blame Joan for walking off at all. Whitfield was completely out of line and came off like a snotty, rude and jaded know it all while interviewing Rivers.

Some NEEDS to school the CNN anchor on how to talk to people, because Joan Rivers is a legend, and you don’t trying to investigate a celebrity when talking to them about their craft.  Whitfield came off like an amateur reporter who most likely got her job for looks and not craft.

The interview, which was taped earlier this week and aired Saturday, started out congenially, with Whitfield talking about Rivers’ multi-hyphenate career as an author, comic and host of E!’s “Fashion Police.”

Then it quickly turned ugly as Whitfield put Rivers in the hot seat attacking her for her sassy and witty comedy that has made us all laugh for decades.

Joan, 81, was so appalled by the interview she walked off, but not before telling Fredricka that her comedy is “not mean, it’s not mean, it’s not mean.”

Rivers added:

“I tell the truth…I’m sure I say the same things that all your viewers say to their friends sitting next to them on the couch.”

Then she schooled the CNN anchor saying:

“We’re one of the few shows that says ‘that’s an ugly dress.’ … These ladies make $28 million a picture. You really think that Nicki Minaj cares I didn’t like her dress?”

It didn’t stop there as Whitfield came at Rivers over comedy with an indirect and offensive remark about her style of comedy, so Joan quickly went on the defensive, explaining herself saying:

“Life is very tough…If you can make a joke to make something easier and funny, do it.”

While Whitfield thought she was smart and completely in the right she fired off another shot at Joan about the fur coat she is wearing on the cover of “Diary of a Mad Diva.”

That’s when Rivers lost her temper and went off:

“This whole interview is becoming a defensive interview.”

“Are you wearing leather shoes?” When Whitfield said yes, Rivers told her, “then shut up.”

she added:

“I don’t want to hear this nonsense.”

“Come to me with a paper belt, and I’ll talk to you.”

Whitfield continued with the same line of questioning, and that’s when Rivers announced, “I’m going.”

Joan unleashed her celebrity star power saying:

“All you’ve done is negative.”

“I’ve made people laugh for 50 years, I am put on Earth to make people laugh. My book is funny. I wear fur that was killed 15 years ago, I work for animal rights.”

“Stop it with ‘you do this and you’re mean’!”

“You are not the one to interview a person who does humor! Sorry!”

Watch:

As a journalist ourselves, someone NEEDS to seriously school Fredricka Whitfield when speaking with a celebrity, because that was a blatant attack on Joan Rivers. We felt sorry for Joan and Fredricka of CNN should issue an apology because she was 100% in the wrong. There was nothing nice about her interview with Joan and she deserved to be SLAMMED by Rivers.

Do you think CNN ‘s Fredricka Whitfield was out of line like we think?
