CelebnMusic247.com reports that noted record executive, music producer and entrepreneur best known as the founder of Murder Inc. Records, Irv Gotti, born Irving Domingo Lorenzo Jr., has died.
Gotti cause of death is as yet unknown, but the music mogul did suffer a stroke last year and had long battled diabetes-related issues. Although, there has been no cause of death at this time it was noted after suffering a stroke that Gotti was heard saying he wasn’t consistent with taking his insulin. Irv also noted his doctors had encouraged him to change his diet, which he was struggling to do.
In the 90s and early 2000s, Murda Inc was killing it in the music industry and Gotti played a key role in hip-hop and R&B records of the time. His most notable artists were Ja Rule, and Ashanti dropping hit after hit during those key years of hip hop.
Irv also worked with DMX and many other heavy hitting artist during that time each of whom saw massive commercial success.
Rising to prominence in the late 1990s and early 2000s, Gotti, born Irving Domingo Lorenzo Jr., played a key role in hip-hop and R&B records of the time, working with artists like Ja Rule, Ashanti and DMX, each of whom saw massive commercial success. It was his time at Def Jam, when he signed DMX which was the catalist that helped him launch Murda Inc. and begin his legacy of hip hop hits. At the time, Gotti served as executive producer on DMX’s first studio album, “It’s Dark and Hell is Hot.”
In 2021, DMX, born Earl Simmons passed away at White Plains Hospital in New York after being admitted April 2 following a drug overdose and subsequent heart attack. He had been on life support and, according to his former manager, in a “vegetative state.”
His signature production style blended hip-hop beats with melodic hooks and influenced a wave of rap and R&B crossover hits that were inescapable from 2001 to 2004. Among them: several multi-platinum smashes with Ja Rule and Jennifer Lopez, including “I’m Real” and “Ain’t It Funny.” With Ashanti, Ja Rule landed another hit with “Always on Time,” and she, as a solo artist, charted with “Foolish,” “Rain on Me” and “Mesmerize.”

He will always be remember by his musical legacy through his artist; such as, Ja Rule, Ashanti, DMX and Vanessa Carlton who he signed and produced her “Heroes & Thieves” album in 2007.
