On May 28th the Downtown’s Sweetheart Vashtie celebrated her birthday among friends at Santos Party House?, 96 Lafayette Street, NEW YORK CITY
The big apple’s dj scene was out in full force to celebrate with Vashtie; veterans such as Q-Tip and A-Trak partied alongside the likes of Chelsea Leyland, Theophilus London, and Kilo Kish to the music spun by DJ Huggy Bear, Brenmar, and DJ Wonder throughout the night.
Around 1:30AM Joey Bada$$ & Pro Era took to the stage at Santos Party House in New York City to preform an extended set in honor of the birthday girl.
Vashtie Kola, often called “Downtown’s Sweetheart” is an artist, director, designer, and party producer. She has worked as Director of Creative Services for Def Jam, styled and modeled for Billionaire Boys Club, and started her own clothing line—called VIOLETTE, a mix of uptown meets downtown with a rock and hip-hop vibe.
As an established film director she has directed numerous music videos for a range of artists including Solange Knowles, Kendrick Lamar, Justin Beiber and Kid Cudi. Kola, a staple on New York Party Circuit, founded the iconic monthly 90’s Party with close friend Oscar Sanchez titled “1992” that brought out a mix of tastemakers including Ne-Yo, Maxwell, Redman and more.
The multi-talented Kola has also modeled for DKNY and is the first women to design her own Jordan shoe.
