Godzilla is returning to the big screen in a darker, more edgier, and fearful looking trailer which stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston alongside the big guy, Godzilla.
This new version of Godzilla is visioned be director Gareth Edwards and the teaser trailer reminds us of J.J. Abrams Cloverfield or Super 8 trailer.
British director Gareth Edwards had this to say about his newest endeavor. – Edwards recalls of first laying eyes on the fully realized, scaly wrecking machine:
“It was such a shot in the arm to see your star.”
“It was like knowing you were pregnant vs. seeing the ultrasound. I suddenly remembered I was making this iconic movie.”
Next year marks the 60th anniversary of the atomic-powered mega-beast laying waste to Japan in Toho’s 1954 Godzilla, and the new movie harks back to the roots of the original in both look and theme.
Edwards, who wrote, directed and did visual effects for his 2010 indie sci-fi film Monsters, imagined his version of Godzilla to be close enough to the first incarnation that it would have inspired the man in the rubber suit that made for a high-tech beast back in the 1950s.
Compared to the EPIC FAIL BOX OFFIC BOMB – the 1998 Godzilla which starred Matthew Broderick, Jean Reno, Maria Pitillo didn’t live up tot the hype. And what was really sad was the mass media campaign around Los Angeles and New York for the film. There were dozens of billboards describing Godzilla. The media blitz was phenomenal compared to the over the top sappy love story/monster movie.
Its great on DVD now, but when it hit theaters fans wanted to see Godzilla be ferocious and instead they saw a radioactive misplaced lizard just trying to find a new home in New York to lay her 1000+ babies. The movie bombed and there was no sequel. Thank you God!

The first Godzilla trailer premieres online Tuesday (1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT) and is attached to TheHobbit: The Desolation of Smaug starting this weekend.
