Godzilla 2 Set To Hit Theaters June 2018
Did you really think there wasn’t going to be a sequel? Godzilla 2 Set To Hit Theaters June 2018 cutting a new path of destruction in theaters.
Warner Bros. and producer-financier Legendary announced Thursday that the follow up to Godzilla reboot will hit theaters in 2018, since the film opened to $93.2 million in May and has grossed more than $500 million at the worldwide box office.
Director Gareth Edwards is returning to helm the sequel, since his directing stock has risen quickly in recent months, will roll up his sleeves on the follow-up after he wraps a stand-alone “Star Wars” movie that’s set for release in December 2016.
Here’s the breakdown:
During a presentation at Comic-Con last month, Legendary revealed that “Godzilla 2” will feature three more iconic monsters from the Toho canon: Rodan, Mothra and Ghidorah.
Four years is an unusually long time to wait after a hit movie, but Warners apparently likes Edwards enough to stand by as he works on “Star Wars,” and also has a rather crowded slate in the summers ahead besides.
Indeed, the announcement follows Warner Bros’. staking its claim to nine dates through 2020 for yet-untitled superhero movies based on DC Comics properties.
And for you King Kong fans, the King of the jungle will get another movie. A prequel called “Skull Island,” that’s set for release Nov. 4, 2016.
