(CelebNMusic247 – News) Fast & Furious 7 Gets Release Date:
Vin Diesel cut to the chase and has taken to his Facebook to announce a new release date for the Fast & Furious 7!
After weeks of uncertainty about the future of “Fast & Furious 7? after Paul Walker‘s death in a horrific car crash, the franchise’s biggest star took to Facebook to announce a new release date for the film — and post the final photograph of his late co-star and close friend on set.
Diesel wrote in the post accompanying the picture of himself with Walker on location, “The last scene we filmed together … ” – both caked in fake blood and sporting their best action-star stares.
Vin continued:
“There was a unique sense of completion, of pride we shared … in the film we were now completing … the magic captured … and, in just how far we’ve come …
“Fast and Furious 7 will be released… April 10th 2015!”
“P.s. He’d want you to know first…”
The seventh installment of the car chase franchise that has grossed $2.38 billion worldwide to date was originally scheduled for a July 11, 2014 release.
But reality intruded Nov. 30, when Walker was killed, along with his friend, Roger Rodas, after their 2005 Porsche Carrera GT crashed into a tree and exploded in flames.
Universal Studios shut down production on the film indefinitely as execs, producers, and the cast and crew to mourn.
“Right now, all of us at Universal are dedicated to providing support to Paul’s immediate family and our extended ‘Fast & Furious’ family of cast, crew and filmmakers,” a rep for the studio said in a statement last month.
“At this time we feel it is our responsibility to shut down production on ‘Fast & Furious 7’ for a period of time so we can assess all options available to move forward with the franchise.”
The movie is revving for a major box office race in what’s shaping up as the most crowded summer movie season in Hollywood history. It lands in a slate of movie that includes Marvel’s “The Avengers: Age of Ultron,” the “Man of Steel” sequel which will pit Henry Cavill’s Superman against Ben Affleck‘s “Batman,” “Jurassic Park IV” and a “Terminator” reboot.
Though some of the movie had already been shot before Walker’s death, the 40-year-old actor still had key scenes to film.
His absence forced director James Wan and screenwriter Chris Morgan to rewrite the script, scrambling to salvage at least some of the existing Walker footage to allow for a proper send-off for the late actor’s character, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
There are limited precedents to losing an above-the-marquee star in the midst of filming. After Brandon Lee — son of martial arts legend Bruce Lee — was fatally injured by a loaded gun on the set of “The Crow, ” the 1994 supernatural action flick needed a body double to finish production.
And after Heath Ledger‘s died of a prescription drug overdose in January 2008, ” The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus” director Terry Gilliam opted to complete his film using a trio of actors. Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law all played fantasy versions of Ledger’s con artist in the film.
