If you love The XX, then you’re going to love their new song ‘On Hold’off the upcoming ‘I See You’ album. But The XX sampled Hall & Oates ‘I Can’t Go For That’ so they need to pay royalties. Daryl Hall is waiting for his checks!!!
Flip and find out what Daryl Hall is saying about The XX Sampling their 1981 hit ‘I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do)’…

CelebNMusic247.com is in love with The XX ‘On Hold’ but Daryl Hall has no issue with the trio as long as he receives royalties for sales of the new song.
The 70-year-old singer was quite happy for the ‘Angels’ group, comprised of Romy Madley Croft, Oliver Sim and Jamie xx. He is happy that The XX used his song “I Can’t Go For That” because he likes to hear other people’s interpretation of his songs. The only catch is make sure that he gets his money or expect to be served!
Daryl Hall told website Genius.com:
“It’s always interesting to hear what somebody does with my songs. After a song is written, it belongs to the world and can be interpreted anyway they want. As long as I get paid, of course. Have fun and pay me.”
‘On Hold’ is the lead single from The xx’s new album ‘I See You’, which is released on January 13, 2017.
Upon announcing the record, The XX said:
“We know these are uncertain times and we hope the joy & love we found making the record will get out into the world, in however small a way.”
Their third studio album is the follow-up to 2012’s ‘Coexist’. The xx teased the record by sharing a playlist of music they’d been listening to in a bid to get inspired. Expect a change in tone for their third album. They’ve certainly evolved musically and its a more soulful blend of alternative, blue-eyed soul and pop rock. Some of the songs that inspired them for the I See You album include; Aretha Franklin’s ‘Day Dreaming’, Solange’s ‘Weary’, Drake’s ‘With You’, Frank Ocean’s ‘Ivy’ and Radiohead’s ‘Ful Stop’.
Here is the original from Hall & Oats:
Meanwhile, they also announced their first tour in two years, which takes place in November and December in Eastern Europe and Japan. NOTE: They’re playing Lollapalooza in Argentina and Chile so we bet they’ll be playing Lollapalooza Chicago in July. We hope they join BottleRock lineup.
