One day after Ron Howard officially signed on to direct LucasFilm’s Han Solo: A Star Wars Story, the filmmaker speaks out about taking over.
Ron Howard spoke at the Cannes Lions advertising and media conference in France after officially coming in to replace departing Han Solo directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Read on…

CelebNMovies247.com has learned that Ron Howard has already started working on the Han Solo spin-off, with production scheduled to resume on July 10.
Right off the top, Howard has reworked the schedule and has already planned five weeks of reshoots built into the schedule. The reshoots will take place later on this year at an unspecified date. As for the material that has already been shot for Han Solo: A Star Wars Story, Howard is basically going to try and salvage some of it.
“So many people involved in the Star Wars franchise are friends. It’s already been in production, and there’s a lot of really great work there.”
Ron Howard took to Twitter stating:
“I’m beyond grateful to add my voice to the Star Wars Universe after being a fan since 5/25/77. I hope to honor the great work already done & help deliver on the promise of a Han Solo film.”
While many outlets are still stating they have no clue why Lord and Miller got axed, one website had noted that Alden Ehrenreich first blew the whistle on directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller. It was then, when Katherine Kennedy was alerted and the creative differences erupted
Here’s what SWNN had to say about it.
“He started to worry that Lord & Miller’s screwball comedy angle was starting to interfere with what the character of Han Solo is really about, even if this was a younger, more reckless take on the character than the one we met in that Cantina on Tatooine. One source described it as being oddly comparable to Jim Carrey’s performance in Ace Ventura at times. Ehrenreich let his concerns be known to one of the producers, who then told Kennedy about it, which led to her decision to look over the existing footage.”
Interesting tid bit, right? Plus who wants to see a Jim Carrey-eque version of Han Solo. That would suck. We hope Ron Howard cuts most of the footage from Lord and Miller.
