We will disregard the failed Michael Bay “more realistic” remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street since it was utter garbage and a waste of film.
However, we are hearing that New Line Cinema is going to make a new Elm Street and we just got word that Robert Englund wants Kevin Bacon as Freddy Krueger. Read on…

CelebNMovies247.com is actually loving this idea with Kevin Bacon. Com’on everything is better with Bacon on it, so why not Kevin in Elm Street.
Robert Englund was astounding as Freddy for all of the original franchise, and if New Line Cinema is going back to Elm Street, Kevin Bacon is the perfect killer in your nightmares.
According to MovieWeb who spilled the deets first about Robert Englund wanting Kevin Bacon to play Freddy Krueger.
“Well the gossip I’ve heard, and I don’t know how valid this is, but there has been some talk about using, or perhaps he’s been approached, Kevin Bacon. Yeah. I think that would be great. He’s in one of my favorite little horror movies, Stir of Echoes, and you should check it out if you haven’t seen in. And I just think Kevin’s the right size. I think he respects horror movies. He doesn’t make fun of them. I think it would be real interesting.”
He added:
“I would certainly like to be invited to do a cameo, to maybe play the cantankerous old professor or the group therapy guy that doesn’t believe they’re having nightmares. I think it would be fun for the audience.”
Why is Kevin Bacon the Right guy to play Freddy?
Bacon is the right guy for the part since he can play anything. He’s funny, and can play evil villain at the same time. Freddy needs a actor who can embrace the comedy as well as the evil like Englund. Though, this is early buzz, we hope that Kevin gets a shot at Elm Street if it gets a green light for another attempt at a reboot.
The only thing with Elm Street is that the movie is a classic that will be hard to outdo. Maybe New Line Cinema should look for a new franchise since Freddy has murdered countless innocent teens so creatively that it’s hard to do a fresh take on a new Elm Street. The 2010 version was horrible, there was only one scene that was creative and new and that was the death of Kellan Lutz in the diner.
And if you’re unsure if Kevin has the right stuff, check him out in Stir of Echoes and R.I.P.D..
