Why Predator Movie Delay is a Positive Thing

CelebNMovies247.com has learned that Shane Black’s Predator has been pushed back to a Summer 2018 release which means that the studio feels that its a big contender or it needs a weak weekend to release on.

There is one problem with it’s summer release date, its new release date for The Predator is August 3, 2018. A month most notably known for movies that are NOT that great or have less competition so they can have a decent box office. On fan expressed some concern to director Shane Black on Twitter that the delay was a bad sign.

Here is what Black said about the film being pushed back:

“I endorsed this entirely. It’s a great thing — also, a bit of a relief not to open against Marvel’s Black Panther in February.”

That means that the studio watched the film dailies and screened the first cut of the film and possibly after some test screening feel that the film is NOT a strong contender to go up against Black Panther. Originally, Deadpool 2 was releasing on that date but Marvel made some adjustments to their schedule and moved up Black Panther to the February slot to take out The Predator remake.

Why Predator Movie Delay is a Positive Thing

Why The Predator got Pushed Back:

There is no confirmation on the studio stating that the film would perform better in that slot. However, like we pointed out, Shane Black points out, not opening against a Marvel movie is likely a good thing. See The Predator was set for a February 9 release in 2018 with Black Panther opening the following Friday on February 16.

The new release date for The Predator is August 3, 2018. The Predator’s only competition that weekend will be Will Ferrell’s Sherlock comedy Holmes and Watson, and an untitled live-action Disney movie. With Disney leaving the slot open, this could be an unseen disaster for The Predator, but the studio will have to wait for now. If the competition is too great Black’s movie, it could suffer another push-back or shall we say strategic move to rake in the box office.

Why The Predator remake May NOT Bring anything New to the Table:

The cast makes for an interesting movie to see, but are they enough. The cast includes Keegan-Michael Key (Keanu), Sterling K. Brown, Olivia Munn (Tron, Vinyl), Boyd Holbrook, Jacob Tremblay, Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight). The only thing that is counting against this movie is that we’ve seen Predator movies for almost 2 decades. There isn’t much to this script to remake or not. Movies like this spell lack of character development, heavy body count and new ways The Predators can attack and kill its victims. What made the original so great was it was a new idea, never scene before and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s fight to out think The Predator was the best part.

Will Shane Black be able to bring something new to the table that none of us has seen in a Predator movie? We have two words why we think not…August Release!

A movie that brings it every time is The Purge – Every single one of those movies has plenty of character development so you feel for the stars. NOT any of the Predator films has accomplished that except for the original and part 2. After that they are all dog food.
