Mona-Scott-Young-1

Love & Hip Hop show creator Mona Scott-Young weighed in on the lawsuit she was being hit with by 8th Wonder for copyright infringement the expansion of the franchise.

CelebNMusic247.com has learned that 8th Wonder Entertainment, Nicki Lum-Davis and Trisha Lum are suing the producer’s company, Monami Entertainment for $50 million.

VH1, MTV Networks, and Viacom are also in the lawsuit, that was file March 10, 2014. TattleTailz.com revealed the court documents that showed Mona is being pointed at and accused of copyright infringement, fraud, and breach of contract, breach of confidence for the show’s concept.

8th Wonder Entertainment claims that they had the idea of a show to be called Hip Hop Wives, after VH1 had a hit with Basketball Wives. Some of the cast included, Tashera Simmons, Chrissy Lampkin, Mashonda Tifere, and Debbie Lorenzo.

CelebNMusic247.com did some digging and we found out by and inside source that Chrissy Lampkin originally went to Mona Scott-Young with her idea, before Love and Hip Hop started.

We also found out by an alleged story that a source tells us via annomity that Chrissy entrusted Mona with her idea. The source claims that Mona came back to her with Love and Hip Hop and was guaranteed her as a cast member on the show with a spin off, Chrissy & Mr Jones.  The source also told us that Mona and the Basketball Wives creator work hand in hand on their concepts.

The only thing CelebNMusic247.com asks is the same thing Mona Scott-Young is asking – Why now? The show has been on the air for 4 seasons going into a 5th with the Love and Hip Hop Atlanta spin-off heading into a 4th season.

Now Mona has decided to set the record straight about the suit while speaking with Sway on RapFix Live yesterday. Mona comes back with “The shows been on for six years, so did they just wake up?”

Mona also points out that she’s been in hip hop for over 20 years and this show was all hers and when reality shows are in development ideas are similar, but not completely the same. She also say everyone told her that you’re not a success till someone sues you, so she guesses that “she’s a success?”

Mona started off saying:

“I read about [the suit] on the blogs just like everyone else did.”

She adds:

“It seems like the only people they’ve served are TMZ and Bossip.”

“I haven’t been served anything.”

This Is Hot 97, which premieres Monday, March 31st at 10:30PM ET/PT.
