Madonna may be no stranger to controversy, but a recent photo of her 13-year old son Rocco Ritchie was snapped with a bottle of gin on Saturday in hand and its now raising eyebrows!
Apparently Madonna’s critics are having a field day attacking her claiming that she is promoting underage drinking.
Madonna took the photo of her son while in the Swiss Alps, with the caption, “The party has just begun! Bring it! 2014.”
The legal drinking age in the United States is 21 years old, and in Switzerland, it’s 16 years old. in less than 24 hrs the photo has generated than 1,200 comments. Madonna fans know that the Queen of Pop is a very serious woman, but what they don’t know is that she does like to make jokes and this is her son holding a bottle. He is NOT drinking anything, so we are on Madonna’s side with this.
She is NOT promoting anything. She is just being a cool parent. And trust me my parents have a couple photos of me holding bottles at that age too. In fact they have pictures of me drunk and looking a fool when I was 16, 17, and 18. I thank them for being so open to drinking because I drank at home and NEVER had a die-hard urge to drink. I was NEVER like my friends who had to sneak liquor or steal it from their parents. I ended up being very responsible adult and still am today.. I drink very rare because drinking and drugs mean nothing to me. Parents should learn to be more open about these types of things and maybe there would be less teen alcoholics.
Now we are NOT saying to let your kids go get drunk daily, but when it comes to drinking let them do it in front of you and if they want to go out – instead have them and a few friends do it in your home and take the keys away from them so none of them can drive or go anywhere until the next morning after they slept it off. And before they leave talk with them, make them breakfast and just be there like a parent. You might get better results if you are more open to life instead of sheltering your child.

“You gotta know what kind of signals it sends not only to her son, but also to kids around the world.”
