(CelebNMusic247 – News) Karrine Steffans Separates Herself from African Americans?

Karrine Steffans has pulled a Porsha Stewart and has separated herself from African Americans claiming  she has no slave lineage because she was born in the Caribbean.

We understand her point of view and in a recent interview with 106 KMEL Karrine explains why. The only problem with Steffans point of view is that St. Thomas was a hub for a brutal African slave trade founded by the Danish in 1673.  And as for slavery, it was not abolished in St. Thomas until 1807.

Karrine says:

“I think people forget, I’m an islander. I’m not African American. I don’t have African American struggles. I just don’t. I don’t have the same history. So, and I’m not even tryna be facetious…There’s a serious mind state that comes with being black in America. And being a black American. And the history that comes with that. And all things that are passed down from generation to generation…Shame. Shame sexually. Sexually shaming. Shame on the female gender. Shame just all kinds of shame. And abuse. And belittling and all those things that come from post-slavery.”

“I don’t have slavery in my family so and a lot of islanders don’t, so our mind state is different. We see things different and we’re not ashamed of our bodies. We have Carnival for Christ’s sake….That’s how we live our lives. We go to the beach; we swim naked. It’s just different. Island girls just do it better and that’s just a fact.”

Now Karrine Stephans may not know her history of where she comes or that she possible could have a family tree that ties her to the slave trade. Possibly she is unaware of her ancestry and may need to dig deeper before going on air and claiming she is not tied to slavery…We think she should prove it with a family tree done by ancestry.com to prove her statements!
