Get the details on Joss Whedon‘s upcoming Batgirl movie…

CelebNMovies247.com has found out via MovieWeb that Joss Whedon is close to finalizing the deal, which will be part of the studio’s DC Extended Universe (DCEU).

According to insiders the new project was originated over the past month, but there hasn’t been any indication regarding where the Batgirl may fit in the DCEU. Variety broke the news on this project.

Here is what we have learned about the upcoming Batgirl stand alone movie in the DCEU:

So far, the project doesn’t have any other producers lined up.
Batgirl will be overseen by DC Films presidents Geoff Johns and Jon Berg, along with Warner Bros. Picture Group president and chief content officer Toby Emmerich.
The movie will features other characters “from the world of Gotham,” such as Ben Affleck’s Batman, Jared Leto’s Joker.
It might cross over into Gotham City Sirens characters.
The Batgirl project will include Brids of Prey and Poison Ivy, along with Suicide Squad star Margot Robbie reprising her role as Harley Quinn.
It’s possible that Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Tomb Raider) and David Ayer’s Gotham City Sirens could introduce Batgirl, before Joss Whedon digs deeper into the character with this stand-alone movie.
There is no confirmation on that yet, but its the logical answer since both projects appear to be connected to the DCEU universe
Another possibility is that Justice League star J.K. Simmons could also be brought in for this movie as Commissioner Gordon.
We will keep you posted on the development of Batgirl. We can’t wait to see a great live action version instead of the dreadful Alicia Silverstone portrayal in the 1997 film Batman & Robin movie.

Joss Whedon has been working on writing a World War II zombie movie, which he revealed as the darkest thing he’s done in the past. Now with Batgirl in the forefront, his World War II zombie movie is on the back burner.
