What is taking so long for Avatar 2 and Avatar 3 & 4 to hit the big screen?

CelebNMusic247.com has learned that the long wait will be worthy it according to mastermind director James Cameron who is still tinkering with the scripts.

We guess he’s a perfectionist, but he has to be.

It’s been six years since Avatar took our breath away on the big screen and now we are hearing that production on Avatar 2 was pushed back and the release date was set for December 2016, since Cameron added a fourth film to the franchise.

Obviously it’s paying off for Cameron since Sigourney Weaver described Cameron’s sequel art work as “mind-blowing“, and WETA’s Joe Letteri said it’s the “most ambitious” project they’ve ever worked on.

Cameron gave an update of where he’s at in that process to EW, saying:

“I’m in the process of doing another pass through all three scripts right now…Just refining. That’s in parallel with the design process. The design process is very mature at this point. We’ve been designing for about a year and a half. All the characters, settings and creatures are all pretty much [set]”

When James Cameron was asked about bringing a new installment to the screen gotten any easier this time around?

Cameron said, laughing:

“No.”

“Because you have to challenge yourself. Obviously, expectations are going to be very high on these films, especially on Avatar 2, to make sure it wasn’t just some big fluke the first time. So we’ve got to deliver. I’ve created a nice rod for my own back, so they say.”

What we do know that filming is planned to take place entirely in New Zealand, and Cameron intends to shoot all three films at once when production gets underway. Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana are confirmed to reprise their roles as Jake Sully and Neytiri. Sigourney Weaver is set to return as well, though she’ll be playing a new character this time around. Stephen Lang is also set to return, but nobody knows what the heck that’s about.

Obviously it will be going against the Star Wars saga and solo spin-offs.

Are you excited for the upcoming Avatar saga to start next Christmas?
