Here is what OregonLive had to say about the film that is scaring audiences:
Horror stories have preyed on our collective sexual fears and anxieties since well before Count Dracula first penetrated some virgin’s neck with his enlarged canines. In an era of incurable STDs, the relationship between sex and death has become even more fraught. This added dimension of dread is exploited by “It Follows,” a cleverly premised shocker that should have moviegoers clutching each other’s wrists in fright, but keeping a safe distance after the end credits roll.
In director David Robert Mitchell’s second feature, a young woman named Jay (Maika Monroe) decides, hesitantly, to go all the way with her new boyfriend in the back seat of his car. The next thing she knows, she wakes up tied to a chair in her underwear. For a second, it seems like “It Follows” is going to be some distasteful piece of seedy torture porn. But then the guy explains to Jay that he has passed on to her, sexually, a kind of curse. She will be pursued by an implacable spirit or demon of some sort that can take any form and is indestructible, and it won’t stop until she has sex with someone else and passes it on to them.
