FIXER UPPER: Chip Gaines Reveals How Joanna Was 'The One'

CelebNReality247.com has just got some tea via Chip Gaines himself. The handyman who loves to act like a boy around Joanna revealed that there was someone else before JoJo.

Fixer Upper just wouldn’t be the same without Chip Gaines and Joanna Gaines remodeling homes in Waco, TX. However, Chip is dishing the dirt about his past. He says that he dated a girl named “Amy” for about two years. He even stuck around town after he graduated college kind of waiting on her to graduate. Gaines also revealed that instead of sticking

Chip shared a few details about the relationship with “Amy in the fall issue of the HGTV stars’ magazine, The Magnolia Journal.

The construction company owner said:

“As we walked along the River Thames together, the conversation suddenly turned serious. She asked me where I thought our relationship was headed, and I, being a complete idiot, said something along the lines of ‘You know, I’ve never given it much thought.’”

Chip states:

“I felt convinced that Amy was the one. I walked off that plane hell-bent on making that young woman my wife.”

Gaines gratefully adds the bizare way things work out and how sometime not getting what you want is sometimes the best thing for you:

“It’s hard for me to articulate how grateful I am that we don’t always get what we want,” Sometimes it takes a strongly worded dad letter to convince me that it’s time to leave a dream behind.”

He concludes by revealing that “Amy’s” dad and his reality check was eye opening, so wide that he met his Mrs Right.

Chip says:

“I knew almost from the beginning that I wanted a future with [Joanna]. I wasn’t ready to settle down at that moment, but the idea was no longer foreign.”
