Have you heard about Disney’s New Star Wars Boat Ride?

Before you star doing back-flips, this ride is going to be part of the new land that will become part of the Star Wars Lands announced for Orlando and Anaheim theme parks. CelebNMusic247.com has also learned that one of the new Star Wars Land rides will be a “boat ride” like the Walt Disney classic Pirates of the Caribbean.

What we are hearing is Disney is taking things to the next level for ride goers experience, which is coming from the big annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

Jon Snoddy, Disney EVP of Imagineering, apparently let some information slip that ILM is working with WDI on at least one of the new rides, which he teased would be “unprecedented, in a way.”

Business Insider reports that Snoddy seems to hint that one of the new Star Wars Land rides is going to be a “boat ride,” likely in the tradition of Pirates of the Caribbean. The full quote, from TheDrum, doesn’t seem to mention Star Wars directly however:

“It will be a boat ride where the boats are controlled down to millimeters to precisely align them frame by frame to this ILM giant projection that will be able to determine exactly where peoples’ eye are to give a sense of depth in 3D.”

It was also added that “Disney Imagineering’s robotics and ride know-how, they’ll know where the boats will be at any moment, down to the milimeter, meaning they can predict with almost guaranteed accuracy where a rider’s attention will be.”

I don’t think we’ve seen a boat ride use projection technology in this way before. It seems like almost every new ride at Universal Studios involves sitting in moving seats as 3D movie is projected on a wall. It’s interesting that Disney is trying to employ this kind of experience in a moving tried and true ride experience like the classic attractions It’s A Small World and Pirates of the Caribbean.

Remember at the D23 Expo 2015 Disney announced not one, but two Star Wars Land expansions for Disney parks, one at Disneyland park in Anaheim, CA, and another at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, FL. Both versions will be the largest-ever park expansions, at 14 acres each.

Let us not forget that the buzz around the new Star Wars land started when Bob Iger said:

“These new lands at Disneyland and Walt Disney World will transport guests to a whole new Star Wars planet, including an epic Star Wars adventure that puts you in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance.”

Bob Iger also said at the panel,

“I am thrilled to announce the next chapter in the long and exciting history between Disney Parks and Star Wars. Through each new attraction and new land we create, we push the boundaries of what is possible. And as you can imagine, with Star Wars, we are taking that to a whole new level, with a whole galaxy to explore.”

We are NOT sure if this will be part of the upcoming new lands at Disneyland and Walt Disney World since Walt Disney Imagineering likes to keep things under wraps.

But if this first look is actually correct it sound like and awesome ride, especially if they’re combining 3-d visual effects so it feels like your actually in the movie and part of the action like Universals Transformers The Ride.
