The star of Beyond the Lights Nate Parker stars in the upcoming slave drama, The Birth of a Nation, but Could The Birth of a Nation Be Another Oscar Snub For 2017!!!

With Diversity being the hot topic especially with Oscar Sunday just days away, The Birth of a Nation sets its flag for fall 2016 just in time for the Academy to acknowledge the film but will it rank? Find out what the buzz is about on the flip…

Could The Birth of a Nation Be Another Oscar Snub For 2017?

The $17.5 million that Fox Searchlight paid for The Birth of a Nation was the single biggest deal in Sundance history, but will it pay off?

The distributor has huge plans for the movie expecially when it comes to landing nominations for award season. It was the buzz movie at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, but is buzz enough?

Lupita Nyong’o Calls The Oscars Unconscious Prejudice

Sylvester Stallone Almost Boycotted The Oscars

The slave film is setting its flags high with hopes, but with The Oscars track record, we’re NOT sure if it will get a nomination. We hope so since Creed only acknowledged it’s only white actor, Sylvestor Stallone, Will Smith’s Concussion was completely snubbed and Straight Outta Compton which had some breakout talent like Jason Mitchell (Eazy E) and Corey Hawkins (Dr Dre) should have at least been nominated for Best Supporting roles, but no black stars were acknowledged at the White Oscars awards this year.

Note: The Birth of a Nation will be going up against Tate Taylor’s literary adaptation The Girl on the Train, starring Emily Blunt and Rebecca Ferguson, and Gavin O’Connor’s thriller The Accountant, starring Ben Affleck, which we all know will most likely land nominations. This will be a big test for The Academy because ALL eyes are watching!

(The X-Men spin-off, Gambit is also currently dated for October 7, but given its behind-the-scenes struggles we expect it’ll be delayed before we get there.)

List to Nate Parker speaking about his hero Nat Turner, who he plays in the upcoming Fox Searchlight film The Birth of a Nation directed and starring Nate Parker:

We can’t wait to see The Birth of A Nation directed By Nate Parker. We hope it gets the credit it deserves when it comes to award season.

The Birth of a Nation will open nationwide on October 7, 2016.
