Collin Gosselin Claps Back at Kate Gosselin

Days after his memoir landed, Collin Gosselin’s camp fired back at his estranged mom’s TikTok claims with a flat, on-the-record denial.

The Collin Gosselin story stopped being a memoir rollout this week and became a public family fight. On Tuesday, Collin’s representative issued a firm denial of the claims his mother, Kate Gosselin, had been making about him in TikTok comments, per Page Six.

“Let us be absolutely clear: Collin has never used a weapon to harm a family member, nor has he ever harmed or killed an animal in his lifetime,” his rep, Adriane Schwartz, told Page Six in a statement. “These allegations are categorically false,” she added, calling it “beyond reprehensible” to publicly accuse a child of such acts to protect a reputation. Schwartz also said Collin “has shown extraordinary courage in telling his story, and he will not be intimidated or silenced by these damaging accusations.” Page Six reached out to Kate’s rep for comment but did not immediately hear back.

The exchange follows the release of Collin’s memoir, “In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood,” in which, per Page Six, he accuses his mother of verbally and physically abusing him and his siblings, says she locked him in a basement during his childhood, and claims she used $100,000 of the Gosselin children’s money to furnish her home. Kate has denied those claims.

Her counterattack played out where so much of this family’s story now lives — in the comments. Per Page Six, Kate, 51, claimed in TikTok responses to fans that her 22-year-old son had a “history of violent behavior with weapons towards people, the killing of animals, his regular use of racial slurs, and his ‘physical behavior.'” Asked by a fan whether their “incredibly high needs child” had tried to kill animals or “assault” multiple people, she doubled down, claiming Collin killed animals “for fun” and assaulted his siblings “with a weapon,” per Page Six.

Kate also addressed her son’s time in treatment facilities, saying she visited “EVERY single time the facility felt he was stable enough for a visit,” and that some planned visits were canceled by the facility because he was too unstable, per Page Six. And she accused Collin of “cherry picking” which details to release publicly: “He’s releasing only segments of his medical record etc that make him make me look bad while also withholding all of his horrific and dangerous behaviors,” she claimed, adding that she was trying to keep him, his siblings, herself and their pets safe.

For longtime viewers, the backdrop needs little explaining. Kate shares twins Cara and Madelyn, 26, and sextuplets — Collin, Joel, Leah, Alexis, Hannah and Aaden, 22 — with her ex-husband, Jon Gosselin, and the family became famous on “Jon & Kate Plus 8,” per Page Six. Collin has been estranged from his mother for years, and his memoir was always going to reopen the argument in public.

What is new here is the format of the fight: a formal statement from a representative on one side, TikTok comment threads on the other. Neither arena is a courtroom, and readers should treat every claim in this story as exactly that — a claim, attributed to the person who made it.

The 247 Take — A memoir can be answered with a memoir; answering one with comment-section allegations was never going to end the story, and Collin’s camp just made sure of it — this feud now has two official versions, and no referee.
