The movie about sexy men that blends romance baby oil and glistening, washboard stomachs proved surprisingly popular at the box office, so of course its going to get a sequel.
Magic Mike star Channing Tatum has already said he would be open to a return, and is apparently in the running to direct the film, alongside Steven Soderbergh’s long-term producer, Reid Carolin.
Word is, Carolin and Tatum have already begun discussing the direction of the potential sequel could take, according to The Playlist.
Carolin explains:
“You know, we are talking a lot about it.”
“We have a story, and it is really ridiculous and fun. It’s a road movie sort of thing, where a bunch of strippers get back together. It’s more of a broad comedy. I don’t know whether it will happen or not.”
Currently Channing Tatum is working on a Broadway version of the show, so ladies get ready because Magic Mike is heading to the big apple soon. After the Broadway project is well underway, most likely Tatum will be strapping up into the thong for another go-around on the big screen.
