Despite the fact that Fox’s seeming unwillingness to greenlight anything without the confirmation of Will Smith’s involvement rumors of  Independence Day 2 still hang in the sidelines.

Now in a recent interview ID’s President, Bill Pullman has suggested that the project may go ahead regardless.

Pullman explains”

“The Will Smith part of it may be ongoing but I think there’s strategies for both.”

“I like what I have to do in both of them.”

Bill continues to say:

 

“I’m not in an old age home in a wheelchair being wheeled out for one more moment.”

“It’s a very interesting conception of what happens to Whitmore between then and when it picks back up.”

Will Independence Day 2 actually happen? Well it may be to soon to call, but it does at least seem as though contingencies have been made in the event of Smith’s non-participation.
