(CelebNMusic247-News) Batfleck Backlash Grows
Batman fans have been wondering who was the studio going to go with for the upcoming Batman vs. Superman movie and on Thursday (Aug 22) Warner Bros. announced shortly before 9:30 p.m. that Ben Affleck is our new big-screen Batman.
Batfleck Backlash was quickly drawn within minutes when Oscar-winning actor Richard Dryfuss fired off the first shot tweeting his artful thrust-and-parry, responding to the casting fury that rapidly went by the handy hashtag #Batfleck.
Richard Dryfuss to his twitter saying- Looking closer, we can see his engraving reads:
“You read for a part, you feel good about it, you feel confident, then they cast Ben Affleck.”
With the anti-Ben Affleck backlash continues to gather more movement a change.org petition was launched that seeks to “Remove Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne in the new Superman/Batman Movie” (A few thousand signatures and counting.) And the Twitter hashtag #BetterBatmanThanBenAffleck spawned a gleeful piling-on (prompting responses as varied as TV original Adam West, the Dowager Countess of Grantham, the Autopilot from “Airplane” and “literally, anyone”).
Remember Ben Affleck aka Batfleck played Daredevil the superhero who was blinded by toxic wait but then gained super strength and the ability to see his foes by sound waves and water reflection.
Affleck was ok as DD, but the movie lacked the power it needed since he was just not believable enough in the Daredevil suit. Many critics panned the film, which is a close second to the lackluster Electra which stars his wife Jennifer Garner – a spin off film from Dare Devil.
The only good thing that came from that was Colin Farrell and that awesome sex tape of him getting down with his model girlfriend. Talk about one of the hottest sex tapes we’ve ever seen. It puts Kim Kardashian’s sex tape were it belong – boring!
Anyways, some say that #Batfleck is NOT the worst choice, others are saying he’s NOT the best!
Here’s the drop:
Ben Affleck and Warner Bros. have a strong relationship together and with the studio being the shepherds that churn the DC Comics universe Affleck revivified his descending-into-punch line career by directing “Gone Baby Gone” and “The Town,” then capping his comeback this year, when he and his director’s beard won Oscar for “Argo.”
Batfleck Affleck the $1 dollar location it looks good on the menu but when you eat, it just makes you sick and want to throw up!
The same goes for Warner Bros. choosing Ben Affleck for Batman – first off he’s too too strapping, they kvetched, or too square-jawed, or too famous — or too bland and too unsubtle and too deliberate and too smug.
Affleck doesn’t have the talent that George Clooney brought to the character, the quirkiness and insane sanity that Michael Keaton dazzled fans with, or the dark twisted and grittiness that Christian Bale brought to the cape crusader.
All these men gave new life to Batman and now we go from a strong virile Batman to a mellow dramatic actor who calling is directing more so than his acting.
Just the thought of Affleck playing the Batman is like have a watered down Ciroc on the rocks. It says Ciroc but it NOT! Certain movies flop because of big actors taking on the lead role – it’s just NOT believable. No offence Ben but you need to stay in your lane and change your mind about playing the Bat.
Thing is, in another DC production from the intelligent and proven “Dark Knight” team, including writer David Goyer, Affleck will likely be fine. But the Internet doesn’t want “fine.” Or safe, unless “safe” means the high-priced return of Bale. Fanboys and filmgoers want either established brilliance for the Batman!
Let us break it down like this – Henry Cavill, Man of Steel – Brilliant, Michael Keaton, George Clooney and Christian Bale as Batman Brilliant.
Val Kilmer as the Batman good, and as for Ben Affleck portraying the Dark Knight just ok, and nobody pays movie ticket prices for a just ok superhero.
Warner Bros. should revamp their choice casting, because we smell flop! The film sound like it will be playing things safe and with Ben leading up the film as The Batman, it’s just going to be just that Ben Affleck playing a character.
Warner Bros. needs to get an unknown or a newer star…If you’re going to be that whack with Ben Affleck as batman, then you might as well choose Paul Walker as The Flash or Aquaman at least he could give more expression and be more believable as a superhero than Ben Affleck.
