The Captain America: Civil War star spoke out at the star-studded affair, co-hosted by Stanley Tucci at the charity One For The Boys, founded by Sofia Davis, which aims to raise awareness for male cancers, CelebNHeath247.com has learned.
The 37-year-old, Anthony Mackie pleaded to WWD:
“Men think because we are men we don’t have to go to the doctor but it’s very important to get yourself checked out. If not for yourself, then for the people around you.â€
Mackie added:
“When I turned 30, I woke up one day my back hurt, my hip hurt, my head hurt and I went out partying with my friends and the next day I didn’t recover the same and I was like, ‘I’m getting old.’ I realised my mortality. After that I started going to the doctor every six months.â€
In addition, the evening’s entertainment was provided by two singing superstars; Nicole Scherzinger and Kylie Minogue. During her set Pussycat Dolls star Nicole sang a moving rendition of Purple Rain, dedicated to the late singer Prince.
Nicole told the audience:
“I didn’t want to sing this song but Mr. Jackson asked me to, so you’ll have to bear with me because I’ve never sung this song before.â€Â
We agree with Anthony that men need to have their health checked annually once they hit 39/40 years old. It’s NEVER too soon to be safe about your health. We all have one life so take care of yourselves.
