It’s not everyday that Andre 3000 sits down to bring us up to speed about what he has going on.
What we found interesting is that his music is secured in the vault, and Andre admitting that his Outkast partner Big Boi is the better rapper.
We always felt that way about Big Boi, so it’s nice to see that the 42-year-old Outkast icon is speaking on it.
The “Hey Ya” rapper had a rough time over the past six years, so he left Atlanta for a change of pace. Andre felt it was time for “a change, a new start,” so he moved to New York. He explained that his “kid went off to college, and my parents died—both of ’em within the last six years. I was like, I’ve kinda outlived Atlanta.” He was no longer going to the studio like his former OutKast partner Big Boi. Instead, 3 stacks said that “I’m just sitting around wasting time and doing stuff I’m not supposed to be doing,” so it was time for change.

As for, Big Boi, Andre 3000 highlights his “Kill Jill” partner’s confidence and leadership as his strengths:
“When you watch early Outkast videos, Big Boi’s the leader. He always had the confidence, where I was kind of like the shy one. Big Boi can rap better than me—I always said that. If somebody said, “Pick who you want from Outkast to go to battle with you,” it wouldn’t be me. ’Cause like, what I’ma do? Say some mind shit? You can’t have thoughts in a battle—nobody gives a shit about that.”

Later in the interview, Andre, who seems to still be mourning the loss of his parents and reflecting on where he is today. He revealed that when he passes away people would find hours and hours of files.
Let’s hope Andre 3000 has a change of heart and releases some music while he’s still here for all of us to enjoy with him.
