With Mother’s Day just days before Alien Covenant, it’s only right that Ridley Scott reintroduces the retro computer ‘MUTHUR’ in Alien Covenant. Obviously she is the first prototype of MUTHUR in the 1979 Alien.

The A.I. in Alien — Nostromo’s feminine-voiced computer known as “Mother,” spelled MUTHUR — wasn’t necessarily malicious per se, but it was a cold. MUTHUR was an impersonal machine that put the needs of the mission over the crew. And for the first time since the first Alien movie, MUTHUR will be making a return in Alien: Covenant.

Watch the newest trailer features it extensively, and may hint at some of the darker intentions with which we were introduced to MUTHUR the first time around.
