Detroit rapper Eminem is being criticised for using gunshot sounds on stage after fans were terrified by the blasts during his set at Bonnaroo music festival.
These days fans of large music festivals are happy to attend, but deep in the back of their minds, they worry that some psycho might repeat the Route 91 Harvest Country Music Festival shooting Las Vegas last year. We know that was NOT Eminem’s intentions, but musicians NEED to think about that these days. Read on for more…
The ‘Lose Yourself’ hitmaker – whose real name is Marshall Mathers came under fire at the Tennessee music extravaganza over the weekend where he terrified some audience members.
Things were all good at the 2018 Bonnaroo music festival in Tennessee during the “My Name is” rappers show.

After the crowd literally freaked out thinking that they needed to run and take cover, Instagram personality Sandra Poenar took to Twitter to weigh in on the Eminem.
She Tweeted:
I was having a good time at Eminem’s set, then he played a realistic gunshot noise. the whole crowd ducked and I’ve never felt more traumatized and ready to panic. completely inappropriate. (sic)
A spokesman for Eminem told Billboard in an email:
Eminem does not use gunshot sound effects during his live show.
The spokesperson continued to explain:
The effect used by Eminem in his set at Bonnaroo was a pyrotechnic concussion which creates a loud boom. He has used this effect – as have hundreds of other artists – in his live show for over 10 years, including previous US festival dates, without complaint.
Em used the same sound effects at Coachella 2018 and no one complained! Maybe Tennesse is just living life scared?
Last year 58 people were killed and more than 800 festival-goers were injured when a gunman opened fire on the Route 91 Harvest Country Music Festival in Las Vegas. Music Festival goers have NOT forgotten. We attended BottleRock 2018 and we have to say that was in the back of our mind as well. Luckily the festival was laced with police and snipes to avoid any shooters.
Hopefully, more festivals will have snipers protecting the festival.
