The Rock aka Dwayne Johnson gives followers a first look at his transformation to become the legendary hero Hercules!

Dwayne posted a photo of him getting made up for Bret Ratner’s swords-and-sandals epic, Hercules: The Thracian Wars.

The new image shows Johnson facing away from the camera, sporting a flowing hairpiece and with his many tattoos artfully covered up as a scar on his back.

The new movie will pick up with Hercules having fallen on hard times, working as a mercenary and travelling to Greece to sell his services for cold, hard cash.

However, when the King of Thrace beseeches our hero to deliver his kingdom from a brutal warlord, it suddenly seems as though a quest worthy of his reputation has finally made its way to Hercules’ door.

Directed by Ratner and co-starring Ian McShane, Rufus Sewell and Joseph Fiennes, Hercules: The Thracian Wars will open in the US on 25 July 2014, with a UK date to be confirmed.
