Dwayne Johnson has just announced that he has teamed up with Mark Wahlberg and HBO for a new series, titled Ballers.

CelebNMusic247 has just learned that Dwayne will be teaming up with his Pain and Gain co-star Mark Wahlberg on the new venture.  Wahlberg is said to be the executive producer of the half-hour dramedy about retired athletes living in Miami. Wahlberg’s producing partner,Stephen Levinson, will write the pilot script, and Peter Berg (“Battleship,” “Friday Night Lights“) is in line to direct.

As described, the show has a definite “Entourage” vibe, following the lives of a group of retired athletes, presumably some of them wealthy and famous, in Miami.

He took to his Instagram, writing:

“THE BLOCK IS HOT. Partnered up w/ HBO & producers of ENTOURAGE & BOARDWALK EMPIRE. Shooting starts in Jan. This is gonna be fun…#BALLERS”

Congrats, The Hero was awesome, so we hope Dwayne Johnson comes back in 2014 for another season.

You can see Johnson in Hercules on July 25, 2014 and Fast & Furious 7 April 10, 2015.

Dwayne Johnson is currently working on San Andreas set for Summer 2015.

Directed by Brad Peyton, the film will center around a huge earthquake in California, while Johnson’s character attempts to travel across the state to save his daughter.

Carey Hayes and Chad Hayes (The Conjuring) wrote the latest draft for the film, with the original idea from Beau Flynn. Jeremy Passmore and Andre Fabrizio sold the original pitch to New Line.

He can also be seen in the upcoming third installment to Journey, Journey 3: From the Earth to the Moon.
