The young Money Entertainment rap star, Drake said about Kendrick Lamar after being called out on Big Sean‘s “Contol‘ track that didn’t make Sean’s hall of Fame album.

Drake continues to be in the forefront of the rap game as the Young Money artist knows how to make hits and sell millions of records in a music industry. However, it doesn’t mean rappers are losing their ambition to sell lots of records despite the label executives’ lack of enthusiasm. When it comes to  ambition, Kendrick Lamar has lots of it and he confirmed that when he challenged his peers to step their lyrics up in that controversial “Control” verse.

Most recently, Kendrick caught plenty of heat when he suggested he was the “King of New York,” despite the city belongs to Hov and Lamar is from LA. Though K-Dot claims he was only paying homage to the Notorious B.I.G., but people are still talking about the verse and New York rappers are still responding to the lyric.

Drake is one of the rappers putting Kendrick Lamar in his place, although he hasn’t said much about it since the verse went viral.  Drake makes sure to set the record straight by saying Kendrick will never be on his level.

The YMCMB rapper covers the latest issue of Billboard Magazine and says:

“It just sounded like an ambitious thought to me. That’s all it was. I know good and well that Kendrick’s not murdering me, at all, in any platform. So when that day presents itself, I guess we can revisit the topic.”

Drake also gives some details on his upcoming album Nothing Was the Same and says there won’t be a lot of “ambient ballads” on it:

“There’s a lot less sort of ambient ballad moments on this album where I’m searching or longing for something. That sentiment is gone. Now I’m just kind of like, ‘You know, I’m 26, I don’t know what the f*ck else I could be doing better than this. I feel incredible about how I’m able to support my family and friends and how supportive my family and friends have been of me.’”
