CelebNMusic247.com has this report via Billboard who spoke to Gahan who speaks on the new album “Angels & Ghosts” (which dropped on Friday Oct. 23) by Dave Gahan & Soulsavers. Dave goes on to say that his parents made him go to church when he was little, and eventually he didn’t like it much, but he thinks the gospel music helped a little bit.
Gahan tells Billboard:
“One thing I really loved about it was the music.”
“And I was forced to sing. Maybe that’s where I got my chops… I think there’s always been a spiritual sense to Depeche Mode’s music.”
Gahan adds comparing it to its predecessor, 2012’s The Light the Dead See:
“[It has] more hopefulness to it.”
“Maybe a little darker… definitely more introspective.”
