Dame Dash Reveals Jay Z Tried to Holla At Aaliyah First
When it comes to Damon Dash dating Aaliyah he first described her as a white girl because of her demenor, but Dame Dash Reveals Jay Z tried to holla At Aaliyah First.
Before JayBey, the Roc Nation leader was trying to get at Aaliyah first, but Dame says she gave him a chance but obviously he ended up in the friend zone.
The Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder spoke to Hip Hop Motivation about his former girlfriend Aaliyah. Just listening to Dame you can hear how much he still misses her. Back in the day, they were one of the cutest couples in hip hop, always smiling, laughing and just enjoying life together.
Dame explains how he and Aaliyah became an item:
“So, I was going at her — But Jay was going at her. And he knew her before I did… It was just a situation where Aaliyah was the type of girl that would give you a shot. She didn’t care what people thought or whatever. So, she’ll date you and be your friend. You might end up in the friend zone. A lot of times that’s what happened. She just wasn’t—Or at least that was my experience…We just hung out. That was my dude.”
Dame reveals how he was drawn to Aaliyah because they were both “very authentic black” people, but they both grew up in non-urban environments.
Dash adds:
“She was a girl that had a point of view. And it was like she was known at one time younger for being a little thuggish-looking girl or whatever. But she really acted like somewhat of a non-urban chick. You know what I mean? She just was like a white girl,” says Dame. “When you talked to her it wasn’t no hood sh(t with it at all. Not even a little bit. She understood it. And that was like me, kinda… Overall I went to private school. So, we liked a lot of the same things. We had the same perspective. We were very authentic black. But we had other experiences.”
Over the summer Dame took to his Instagram writing this about former girlfriend Aaliyah:
“My feelings will never change and I feel close to her everyday…I know she is with me and protects me and keeps me around the light… She keeps me confident I know love transcends all dimensions it’s the strongest power in the universe and her and I have a lot of that forever… I know how lucky I Iam… #InvestInWomen”
