(CelebNMusic247-News) Daft Punk Wins 4 Grammys
The 2014 Grammy Awards were all about French electronic duo Daft Punk and their breakout album “Random Access Memories” which won them Album and Record of The Year!
Although we love Daft Punk, we also don’t feel that they deserved album of the year since there were better artists than them, but hey it was The Grammys choice. Not only was it about the music for Daft Punk it was all about the helmets. The electronic duo had a couple of changes and we know fans must have been going wild over the robots.
Anyways, Daft Punk struck gold with their 2013 hit hit single “Get Lucky,” with Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers, which won for record of the year Sunday at the 56th Grammy Awards. The Recording Academy voters gave the twosome four awards over the course of a long but visually and musically dazzling ceremony.
Their producer Pharrell Williams landed himself his own award for producer of the year as well.
Two-time Grammy winner Paul Williams, the veteran songwriter who was one of the collaborators on the album, delivered the acceptance speech for theatrically silent, helmeted musicians Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter.
Paul Williams said when accepting for the robots:
“Back when I was drinking and using, I used to imagine things that weren’t there.”
“And then I got sober and two robots called me and asked me to make an album.”
As for, Macklemore, he won All of the hip hop categories, which we are NOT pleased with one bit. There is a thing called rapping and talking over music is NOT rapping. We will say it again Macklemore is a pop-Alternative artist, but we feel the Grammys put him in the hip hop category so he could win. If he had to go up against Alternative and rock artist he would have lost like he should have. It is a disgrace when real hip hop artists loose to a sutto rap artist. Kendrick Lamar should have won. Pusha T should have been nominated and Macklemore should NOT have been in the hip hop categories, but it just goes to show you that his “white privilege” got him in the door and allowed him to win.
Overall we are disappointed with the Grammys. Beyonce and Jay Z were lackluster, and the show was overloaded with performances that weren’t so great.
The most memorable performances of the show was Lorde, who looks 24 but is actually 17. Can someone help this girl look her age. She looked so raggedy. Next was Imagine Dragons and Kendrick Lamar who were amazing. Lang Lang and Metallica blew the roof off and Queens of Stoneage, Foo Fighter and Nine Inch Nails killed it.
The duds of the show was Macklemore with their overplayed song “I Can’t Change” – Love the song, but it needs to lay low for a long while. Now we understand this was a monumental history making moment for Grammys with 33 weddings, but the sound was off, Macklemore was annoying and Madonna was drowned out by the gospel choir. Overall the moving moment was shadowed by sound issues. Congrats to the couples we can’t take that away from you, we just wish it sounded better.
We would like to give a special shout out to one of our Grammy winners tonight for Best Jazz Vocal Album: Liquid Spirit, Gregory Porter. The album is amazing and his music is awesome. Check him out if you haven’t. Gregory was nominated last year for a Grammy Award, but didn’t win. We are pleased that he took an Award home tonight. Last year Porter spoke with us about Grammy night and his music.
