Common & John Legend Win For Selma!
Rapper Common & John Legend Win For Selma and the original song that they wrote for the upcoming Martin Luther King Jr film.
In a show stopping moment at the 72nd Golden Globes, music royalty, Prince graced the stage to give away the award for best original song, which went to John Legend and Common for “Glory” from Selma.
Common humbly accepted the award, saying:
“I want to thank God and the Hollywood Foreign Press.”
“I am the hopeful black woman who was denied the right to vote. I am the caring white supporter,” added Common.

“I am the unarmed black kid, who maybe needed a hand, but instead of, was given a bullet.”
Lonnie Rashid Lynn, Jr. aka Common continued, thanking Ava DuVernay, Oprah Winfrey and more:
“Selma has awakened my humanity.”
Legend added:
“I’m so honored to be a part of this amazing film.”
“We’re so grateful to write this song.”
Last week, Kanye was heard saying that he felt that John Legend was the new Stevie Wonder, although we don’t agree with that statement we do agree John is talented.
