Childish Gambino "This Is America" Decoded

Childish Gambino has taken socially conscious to a whole new level with “This is America.”

While rappers like XXXTentacion, 6ix9ine, Migos, Moneybagg Yo, YFN Lucci, 21 Savage, Lil Pump, Playboi Carti, Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, Post Malone, Trippie Redd talk about NOTHING except being Gucci, being a boss, groupies, and more nonsense. Hip-hop culture continues to suffer the fate of consumerism, materialism, social status by what you own, wear, who you know and drug culture.

Thankfully we have rappers like Kendrick Lamar, J Cole and Childish Gambino to pick up where veteran rappers like Common, KRS One, Public Enemy, and others have left off. The new gen of hip hop NEEDS more rappers like K-Dot, Cole, and Gambino. Read on to get the tea on Childish Gambino “This Is America” decoded…

Childish Gambino "This Is America" DecodedCelebNMusic247.com are HUGE fans of hip hop but we have watched the decline of hip hop suffer as music lovers are cohorsed to make trash rap chart topping hits.

True hip hop heads thirst for artists like  Kendrick Lamar, J Cole, Schoolboy Q and Childish Gambino who touch on America hoping to #WAKE up the culture.

Gambino uses Jim Crow Caricature depicting on White America continual oppression of Black America and gun violence by police:

In the video below you can see a shirtless Gambino dancing like a Jim Crow caricature. His body movements are taken from Crows origins and insulting depiction of Black America. As he moves in a Crow caricuature way  he comes to his first victim by shooting him in the head. The gives a chilling look at gun violence in America.

How black youth has become jaded to the trauma of gun violence:

NOTE: Gambino gives extra care to the gun while having the prints wiped off. The victim he murders is just another body and headline people will soon forget in the video.  After each killing in the video, Glover points out how the black youth has become jaded to the trauma of gun violence and how the black community has been FORCED to cope.

Gambino also shows how America quickly forgets while the families ruined are swept under the carpet by todays over saturated self-absorbed millennial culture.

We just wanna party
Party just for you
We just want the money
Money just for you (yeah)
I know you wanna party
Party just for me
Girl, you got me dancin’ (girl, you got me dancin’)
Dance and shake the frame (yeah)
We just wanna party (yeah)
Party just for you (yeah)
We just want the money (yeah)
Money just for you (you)
I know you wanna party (yeah)
Party just for me (yeah)
Girl, you got me dancin’ (girl, you got me dancin’, yeah)
Dance and shake the frame (ooh)

Childish also points out bystanders filming with cellphones to post on social media for followers, NOT to help.

The lyrics read:

Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh, tell somebody
America, I just checked my following list, and—
You gon’ tell somebody
—you mothaf**kas owe me
Grandma told me
Get your money, Black man (Black man)
Get your money, Black man (Black man)
Get your money, Black man (get your—Black man)
Get your money, Black man (get your—Black man)
Black man

He ends the video dancing like Michael Jackson on the roof of the car, symbolizing the luxury cars of yester year a safer time in America which is lost today. It’s America’s family falues and lessons lost in todays culture only focused on getting that “bag” being “Gucci” without remorse.

His last verse fades out with these lyrics:

Grandma told me, “Get your money”
Get your money, Black man (Black man)
Get your money, Black man (Black man)
Get your money, Black man (Black man)
Get your money, Black man (Black man)
Black man
