Chance The Rapper Hospitalized:
Chance the Rapper was hospitalized on Sunday and has canceled his set for Coachella‘s closing night.
Representatives for the rapper shared the news on Twitter Sunday afternoon just over an hour before he was set to take the stage, though the cause for his hospitalization has not been revealed.
The Chicago MC, whose real name is Chancelor Bennett, had tweeted on Friday evening that he was feeling sick after performing at the Brooklyn Bowl in Las Vegas. He noted that he had two days off to get better and was expecting to recover in time for his second Coachella set.
Two days later, a new series of messages appeared on the account signed by Chance’s management. “On behalf of @chancetherapper and our entire team- We sincerely regret to have to cancel our 2nd weekend at coachella. -CTR MGMT,” the first said. “Chance fell ill on Friday night & was admitted to the hospital today- Doctors & family are with him & he is expected to make a full recovery. Thank you for the prayers and support during this time, Chance, his team and family deeply appreciate it.” A photo also appeared on Instagram (now apparently removed) showing the rapper lying in a hospital bed, hooked up to IVs with the caption “Pray for my boy chance.”
The 21-year-old rapper made a splash during Coachella’s first weekend when he brought out Justin Bieberduring his set to perform Bieber’s track “Confident,” which features Chance.
The rapper seems to be on the mend, posting a tweet reading, “Feeling better thanks for the prayers. Ima be back 100 for Wednesday’s show I promise. Resting at home for now. God bless u guys.”
