Back in 2006, Nas said Hip Hop was Dead and over the past years hip hop has declined and now rock veteran Gene Simmons Predicts Rap Will Die!!!
The Kiss member went on record to say that he feels rap aka hip hop is on the way out on the flip…
If you’re a hip hop head, you might have noticed most of the music coming out these days is crap and real artists are coming back!
The recent change in the music industry and the lack of decent hip hop hitting the airwaves has enlightened the Kiss singer to unleash his pleasantries on the hip hop genre, CelebNMusic247.com has learned.
Gene Simmons, who is NOT a fan of Rap, is back again dissing the genre.
Simmons said during an interview with Rolling Stone:
“I am looking forward to the death of Rap.”
“I’m looking forward to music coming back to lyrics and melody, instead of just talking. A song, as far as I’m concerned, is by definition lyric and melody … or just melody.”
This is NOT the first time Gene has attacked hip hop. In 2014, Simmons complained about the induction of Rap acts into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member said at the time of 2007 inductees Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five.
“You’ve got Grandmaster Flash in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?”
“Run-DMC in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? You’re killing me. That doesn’t mean those aren’t good artists. But they don’t play guitar. They sample and they talk. Not even sing.”
Well Gene didn’t shy away from his hatred toward hip hop saying to Rolling Stone:
“I don’t have the cultural background to appreciate being a gangster.”
“Of course that’s not what it’s all about, but that’s where it comes from. That’s the heart and soul of it. It came from the streets.”
He adds:
“Rap will die…Next year, 10 years from now, at some point, and then something else will come along. And all that is good and healthy.”
We understand Gene Simmons point of view, but let’s turn the table back when rock ruled. Not everyone can have related to fucking loads of women in hotels, drinking heavily, doing mass amounts of drugs and trashing everything in the room.
That was a lifestyle created by the rock genre movement, which made everyone want to be a rocker. It was a sign of masculinity at the time.
Now everyone wants to be a thug, so have a hard muscled body, lots of tattoos and speaking in slang is this generation. Society is influenced by the music. Controlled by what artist say is cool. Everyone in music is influential to young minds but as artist get older and grow a conscious it becomes more about the music.
We get it, but times change. If music keeps heading in the direction it is, hip hop will fade. Alternative Rock will rise, but band like the Deftones, Slipknot, Five Finger Death Punch, Kings of Leon, Muse and more will rise.
The day of the Ballad Rock bands will NEVER come back, that was an era that lasted around 10 years and bangs like GNR, KISS, and Metallica ruled. If rock comes back it will be more thrash, anguish and anger!
