Monifah has stayed on her grind over the years and in 2012 she became a cast member of TV One’s reality show R&B Divas Atlanta which helped to introduce her to a younger audience and reintroduce her to her fans.

Since then, she became the first African-American celebrity same-sex union wedding special that aired on national TV. She married her beloved longtime girlfriend Terez Mychelle in Honolulu, Hawaii, which was seen on the last episode of R&B Divas: Atlanta Season 3.

Monifah will be performing at the 9th annual OUTMusic Awards as well as being the recipient of the Vanguard Award.

In a part 2 of our Monifah interview the R&B Diva spoke on the aspects of being an independent artist and wearing more than one hat. The East Harlem New York native plans to release her second single “One Moment” off the Invincible album which will be released on her birthday, January 28th. The Aquarian said that she plans to release the Invincible LP in late in February or early March.

She also spoke to us on the production of the album, and how she had more freedom to pick and choose which songs will be on Invincible to tell the story her way. The album is an upbeat fun experience with some great surprises, like a cover from an artist that she really loves and is excited about, but you have to listen to the interview to find out.
