(CelebNMusic247-News) Bottle Rock Napa Erupts In The Wine Country
We have to say if you love rock music and festivals that are 3or more day long, then you need to make plans to hit up BottleRock Napa in 2014 – it ROCKS HARD!
The city of Napa has joined the ranks of the festival circuit with their inaugural Bottle Rock Napa Valley music festival, which is a great addition to Northern Cali or like Primus lead singer claims as Upper Cali needs.
Yesterday the wine country exploded with a great line up to kick off the 5 day festival which strays from the normal 3-day festival like Indio’s Coachella, San Francisco’s Outside Lands Festival or the 2-day Jazz Reggae festival at UCLA. May 9 was the opening day and featured performances by The Avett Brothers, The Black Crowes, Violent Femmes, Primus, X and new comers and the #1 Indie band in Seattle on Reverb Nation, The Refusers.
Three music stages and another facility dedicated to comedy outline the festival that was spread over 26 acres at the fairground in the City of Napa. Festival goers can explore the many offerings from a number of local restaurants and food trucks wineries, and specialty booths that outline Napa’s culinary reputation. From Thai Chicken wings, Argentinian sausage sandwich to pork belly with fried egg tacos, Organic Turkey French Dips to New York strip steak sandwich audience goers are tantalized by Napa’s best offerings, though the prices tend to be a bit higher than normal.
BottleRock Napa nailed it with Rock at its best and will continue on through the weekend and CelebNMusic247 will be there each day covering the event for fans or raw bass strumming, guitar grinding and pulsating rock that will have you thirsting for more.
The Citi stage brought some of the best Rock to the stage like the Los Angeles punk grown group X to the former Runaway lead guitarist turned legendary icon rock symbol, Joan Jett to bay area icons Primus who headlined the first night of the event with mosh pits, and crazed fans going wild as the group ripped the stage and turned the Citi stage upside down! One of the biggest surprises was Café Tacuba. The raucous fans jumping to the beat of the Mexican rock act stirred up a minor dust storm and once again like their Coachella performance just weeks earlier, Rubén Albarrán, their dynamic vocalist, was a spitfire on stage.
On the Miner Family Winery Stage the Violent Femmes took the audience by storm and gave an amazing show! The rock trio gave fans of all ages and amazing show which will go down in BottleRock history as they headlined and closed the first night of BottleRock. Earlier on in the day Delta Spirit gave an energetic set that was followed by Richard Thompson Electric Trio.
The event is so huge it was a bit difficult to cover all the shows, but we hear that The Avett Brothers did a stellar show on the Main stage (Willpower Stage) headline set. The Black Crowes were on the same stage and rocked the event bringing back the era of music which seems to have gotten lost in today’s over populated pop culture of empty lyrical based music. The Black Crowes belted out hit after hit for two hours of pure rock and roll bliss!
Regarding parking for the event which ranges from $30.00 – $100.00 in some places was limited and quite far from the event itself. Most pacing lots were limited and lay on the outskirts of town, combined with shuttle service, to avoid congestion near the Napa Expo. The process of parking and jumping on a shuttle was relatively painless. It’s was wise to stage a couple weekdays before attendance peaks over the weekend to work out all the logistical kinks.
With Friday on the horizon, we will give you the deets on the event as the festivals line up offers greatness in rock once again with The Black Keys who will punctuate an afternoon of music by Blues Traveler, The Flaming Lips and the incredible vocal talent of Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes.
