(CelebNMusic247-News) Cameron Diaz Bumps Out Bullock For Annie
Word is Sandra Bullock has lost the Carole Burnett role of of Miss Hannigan in the upcoming remake of Annie to The Councelor star Cameron Diaz.
It’s been reported that the 40-year-old actress will take on the iconic role of Miss Hannigan in the upcoming remake of Annie.
Here’s the drop according to Deadline:
Sony’s Columbia Pictures has sealed the deal with the blonde bombshell for their updated musical, which had originally planned to cast Bullock. The Blind Side star was in talks to play Miss Hannigan, but as of late, decided to back out.
Instead, Diaz will be showing her aggressive side as the mean woman running the orphanage.
She will be joining the likes of The Southern Wild’s Quvenzhane Wallis, who play the classic role of the orphan Annie, as well as Jamie Foxx, who is set to star as Daddy Warbucks.
Will Smith and Jay-Z will be directing the moppet movie – which starts production in fall and is set to be released Christmas 2014 – and Will Gluck will be its director.
Meanwhile, the Bad Teacher star has been filming The Other Woman in New York City.
Diaz plays a spurned lover out to get revenge on her cheating boyfriend in the upcoming movie.
She also teams up with her philandering boyfriend’s wife (Leslie Mann) and the pair form an unlikely friendship as they plot to get revenge on the love rat who has been seeing a string of women as well as them.
The film also stars rapper Nicki Minaj as Cameron’s opinionated assistant at her New York law firm.
The comedy is directed by Nick Cassavetes, who was behind the camera for The Notebook and My Sister’s Keeper and is slated for release on April 25 next year.
Could Bullock be stepping out because of her child and how it would look playing the icon mean orphanage ring leader role demeaning a young black girl?
If this is the reason why, then we support Bullock for turning down the part. Good choice mom!
