CelebNMusic247.com had the pleasure to speak with writer/director John Swetnam (Step Up All In and Into the Storm) to explains when he and executive producer John Legend wanted to achieve.  Swetnam takes you into the digital underground world of dance. These days dancers are making themselves known by creating a video universe of themselves on Youtube.com. From there they get fame, fans and sometimes mega endorsements. It’s a movement dancing in the right direction for dancers, so John Swetnam wanted to explore that universe and show people the raw and gritty side of making it as a dancer. Breaking Through in the internet generation coming-of-age drama starring Sophia Aguiar and Jordan Rodrigues.

“Breaking Through” is a “found footage” dance movie likened in overall tone to the films in the “Step Up” franchise and plans to serve as a similar showcase for newly-discovered dance talent.

SYNOPSIS:

When Casey, a dancer who is discovered on YouTube, gets thrust into the modern world of internet celebrity and culture, she must find a way to balance her true identity with her online persona, or risk losing everything she cares about.
