Beyonce: The Lion King: The Gift Is A "Love Letter to Africa"

CelebNMusic247.com reports that Queen Bey has made sure to cash in on Disney’s Lion King live-action remake by releasing an album of her own alongside the movie, and the soundtrack.

Beyonce’s album The Lion King: The Gift was announced by Disney’s official Instagram account.

The caption reads as follows:

Just Announced: The Lion King: The Gift, a new album of songs featuring global recording artists and steeped in the sounds of Africa, produced and curated by @Beyonce Knowles-Carter, will be released July 19. ‘Spirit,’ the single from the album and from the soundtrack for The Lion King, will be available later tonight.

On Tuesday, Bey started the promotion of her album with the title track “Spirit” which is said to be in the film as well.

The Lion King: The Gift, is an album curated and produced by the singer herself.

Bey revealed that the album is “a love letter to Africa” and a whole new musical genre inspired by the movie.

Beyonce tells ABC News:

This soundtrack is a love letter to Africa and I wanted to make sure we found the best talent from Africa, and not just use some of the sounds and did my interpretation of it. I wanted it to be authentic to what is beautiful about the music in Africa.

She adds:

The features drums and chants mixed with “incredible new sounds mixed with some of the producers from America . . . each song tells the story of the film.”
