Many model and pageant queens soak cotton balls with orange juice, while others drink carrot juice with laxative in it to keep them thin. there are many things that Bey touches on like plastic surgery, starvation, bulimia, botox and depression while faking the funk that she is happy in the video “Pretty Hurts.”

You never know what one goes through to achieve greatness of 15-minutes of fame. And if they get there will they make it.

Beyonce had this to say about women and the many pressures they face and asking the question:

“When you get this trophy and you’re looking at it. Is it worth it?”

Director Melina Matsoukas adds;

“I wanted to recreate that and have her break them and say that it doesn’t really advance you to get these awards that are just based on outer beauty.”

“The concept of the video is really a behind the scenes look into society’s take on beauty and how it doesn’t bring you happiness and it doesn’t move you forward in life.”

“It’s really finding yourself that brings you happiness.”
